Almost everyone on this planet does some things that seem weird to you, and some
of those things are sleep-related. You probably know at least one person who sleeps
only five hours a day. However, it’s probably even more strange to hear that famous
people like Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Napoleon and others also had bizarre
sleeping habits.
Even though we hear and read from this great post on snorebay.com that we need at least seven hours of sleep every night in order to do our best and stay focused the following day, that just doesn’t
seem right for some of the most successful people. It seems like they don’t fit in the
pattern.
Scientists and Inventors
Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer,
physicist, and futurist, used to suffer from nightmares when he was a child. Then he
started following Uberman’s sleep cycle, and never slept more than two hours a day.
Once he even worked 84 hours (approximately 3.5 days) straignt without any rest.
Albert Einstein, a German theoretical physicist, had a completely different sleeping
habits from Tesla. He slept 10 hours every night, and he also had daytime naps.
Marie Curie, a Polish scientist and chemist, had a bizarre sleeping habit that
eventually cost her life. She slept with a jar of radium at her bedside.
Artists and Writers
Honore de Balzac, a French writer, critic, journalist, and painter, had a sleeping
routine that involved sleeping from 6 pm to 1 am and a nap from 8 am to 9:30 am.
He also drank an absurd amount of coffee.
Voltaire, a French writer and philosopher, was known for his love for coffee. He slept
around four hours every night and drank up to 40 cups of coffee a day.
Politicians
Napoleon Bonaparte, a French politician and emperor, slept four hours a day. His
first bedtime was 12 am to 2 am, and then would go back to sleep again from 5 am
till 7 am.
Entertainers
Lady Gaga, an American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer, once said
that she sleeps inside an egg which she used for her performance “Born this way.“
She calls it a vessel and claims that once she stayed inside for three days.
